Bao Music Business Learnership is a 100% black woman-owned music events management and music business skills development corporation, founded in 2006, owned and managed by Jo-Anne Qoqonga who is a Managing Director. Its primary aim is to ensure that artists are able to be afforded a platform themselves by performing, and to acquire all the necessary business skills that they need, to participate effectively in the entire value chain of the music business.

The company became a major player in the music sector, reportedly being amongst the very first to focus on the whole Music Business Value Chain, in skills development programmes they offered. Over the years, through interactions with industry key role players, the company has managed to produce and package reliable music industry content, and attracted along a number of well eloquent and experienced facilitators and music industry gurus, who, most of the time, are active music industry executives within the music sector. Bao Music Business Learnership remains to have this direct relationships and with the industry and it is such relationships and connections that will ensure that the company is able to deliver whatever assignment it may be given within the music sector.

The company has since tested the developed content and extended its scope by venturing in, to many lucrative and profitable deals within the music sector, including staging its own music events, festivals and music concerts. The idea is to grow the business by understanding first, the value chain it connects with. The approach allows the company to be more innovative, and the opportunities are enormous, especially in the digital age. Bao Music Business Learnership will be focusing more in mass participation projects that largely involve youth. Whilst rolling out such projects, our aim is to create as much content as possible, as we will be exploiting such on different online platforms for diverse income streams.
